I believe that the authors are correct in their assumption that democracy cannot work in the Middle East. In the Middle East, there are many different countries with different types of customs, traditions and religions. For example, in the article, Egypt's Revolt, the Egyptian citizens practice either Islam or Muslim. These groups have disagreed often. One day, during a peaceful Islamic demonstration, a group of Egyptian Muslims attacked the Islamic supporters. A democracy is described as the rule of the people. If the people of Egypt cannot agree to disagree about the religions they practice, how can they be expected to cooperate when governing their country? The answer...they can't.
